Now for the boys!

This was probably around 76s,
KP's lion-head hairdo was hip,
PN was known as Zoom,
And I think we were in our Chinese Teacher's living room!

What is Joy, if you haven't experienced sadness

Joy: I am glad you all managed to invite our friends from Sec 4/1 Science class.

Sadness: Why is Henry not here? Didn't any of you guys remind him? I think I will go back already.

Jo: Think I am getting burned, better put on my robes

Heng Mui Leng says: I have been here before, follow me and I take you to the best spot

Don't worry what the girls say. As long as we don't get sun burned.

Chee Kian is going to study Civil Engineering, so he better get used to it.

Everyone's trying to impress Dorothy

I think I will show Dorothy I can dribble the football as well as national team player Leong Kok Fan and maybe I will have a chance.

Nah, I dont think I am impressed. I am looking for a tan, height and muscles too

The Hainanese beauties. Ai Kheng looked and see what Yan Hong is trying to do?

Soon Choo exclaimed, "Don't kick sand into my eyes!"

Bobo again, I will take off my clothes and jump into the water to retrive the ball for Yan Hong.
Just like Sien Chi, he can't kick a ball for nuts.

Legs Legs everywhere

You don't get to see legs in PE shorts in school PE lessons and sports days.

Soon Hian always seem more mature than many of us in 1974. Maybe she finds us too childish and have a boyfriend older than us

I think I give up. Everywhere I turn I see legs! How am I going to be a pastor?

Waiting anxiously for the girls to arrive

That was as close as what Hong Fatt could get. She said she don't give numbers to strangers.

Pleasant surprise when I received the invitation email. Well done SC.

Just recently, Say Kee passed me our auld lang syne class photo taken year end in Sec 4. It was given to him by Yong Boon, signed and dated. Why YB made him such a gift is a mystery and SK also couldn't figure it out. He was kind enough to let me have it when I mentione the loss of our 4/4class photos. Pass on to you for scanning one day as I don't have scanner.

More Legs & Career Planning

Shirley Wong telling Lee Keng: I will be giving a safety breifing in a few minutes if you can gather the gals here. And do it fast.

As in every outing, our cassanova Hong Fatt is always caught doing some side deals and wooing for follow up dates. In this case, convincing Dorothy than sprinters have more stamina than footballers.

Shirley says, "Look here, with my nice legs and body, ( see picture above) I will be joining SIA next year. I don't know how many of you want to join me to see the world, and if you are not keen you still have to start going to the gym to get a great body like mine"

Suddenly everyone saw the gal in black bikini, and Peter told Yong Boon, let us not sin with our eyes and look away.

And Peter finally managed to convince Yong Boon to join SIA to be a flight engineer but was unable to convince Yong Boon to become a pastor.

Golden Boys & Jade Girls

Don't know if there was an argument or just preparing for games

Look at the Hippie Hair: Hong Fatt, Siong Whatt, Yan Hong, Raymond, Koh Pin, Eng Hwa

Peter Wang and Chong Yong Cheong (richest lad in class)

Seow Soon Hian, whose parents ran a thriving fruit stall in Balestier Road
Anyone in touch with her?

Soon Choo, Peck Yin, Lee Hong ( only dates older guys)

The other beauties

Lim Bee Hoon, anyone knows where she is or in contact with her?

Reminder

Another heart throb, we all know whose heart she broke. Beauty, Head prefect and smart brains, but only knows how to get from home to school and school to home in 1974. Havent figured out how she came to Katong.

Don't you think I am beautiful?

Bikinis are a rare sights for little boys with raging hormones. We were in luck that morning but no one had the balls to approach her to talk to her or ask her to join us or for her telephone.
(P.S. She is not from our class or from Whitley Sec Sch either)

The Smart and the beauties

Top Whitley scholar, bodybuilder, Kungfu master, and ex SAF scholar, Lee Nyuk Sze

The richest lass in our class, Josephine Gwee Poh Yock, who also broke the most hearts.

Teo Thian Soon, now senior management with Halliburton

Miss Dorothy Tan, tie with Josephine with number of guys after her in 1972-1974, including our star footballer Leong Kok Fan. Sien Chi tried but withdrew because he cant kick balls for nuts.

Edwin Tan Song Huat, the prettiest guy in school with a famous singer for a sister and a full drum and music studio at home where Peng Ngwang does his "Bee Gees" antics.

On his left is Yeo Chee Kian, tie with Henry Chia for marrying the latest and the youngest wife ( in terms of age gap) when they finallhy settled down.

In 1974, Katong Shopping Center was there, and Neptune Court is being built

Waiting for classmates to arrive at Katong Shopping Center. This complex is still there today with few changes to the external facade, a rare treat for Singaporeans and their memories.

For the non art stream, BGR was frowned upon and so the girls stick to a group and the guys would do the same, since SDU wasn't formed. No wonder no one was pregnant from our class.

In the background, Marine Vista or the former Neptune Court HUDC was being constructed for top civil servants to stay. Look at the Beatles era bell bottomed pants. The hip would also have a 2 in fold up at the bottom of the pants to collect sand.

Either we were too poor to afford umbrellas or we were trying to get a tan.

The East Coast Lagoon was the first and only enclosed salt water lagoon in Singapore in the 70s and popular place for Singaporeans to chill.

Welcome to our very own Whitley Sec Sch Blog

This project has been overdue for 34 years. The 4/4 Class picnic was organised as a farewell party after the GCE "O" Level examinations in December 1974.

Well, I have finally located the aged black and white photographs ( we were poor students then, and no digital camera or handphone camera), and managed to scan it and post it online for keepsake and posterity and for those of you who want to show your children and grandchildren, and further lineages, how handsome and pretty you were in the last millinieum.

If you are part of our class, teacher or an invited guest, please feel free to write about your experience and comments, and any hidden secrets, anger, or grievences that you have harboured for the past 3 decades. We hope that 34 years should have healed some of those broken dreams and hearts and the road less traveled.

If you havent learn how to blog like I have, it is time to start! It is real easy!
